depart 11:40 LAX 6/18/08 — arrive 6:05 BNE 6/20/08 [winter solstice - shortest day]

well… first things first, we made it through TSA without them stopping us! hahaha Erik thought he’d be the one they’d pull aside. but anyways, security wasn’t too bad. we left LAX a little late, and the plane ride was horrendiously long. I had set my watch to Brisbane time before we left the States, so my plan was to go to sleep on the plane at about 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm. hoping this would help me, I watched family guy, the simpsons, and then tried to watched dan in real life (but couldn’t get into it because it was a little noisy on the plane). They fed us salmon, brownies and cadbury hot chocolate for dinner (and other things… but they weren’t as good) — the hot chocolate was amazing— so after i finally went to sleep I woke up thinking.. like we’d have to be getting closer to AUS, but we weren’t. we were like by hawaii and we still had 6 hours to go. so, I listened to music until breakfast which was juice, blueberry muffin, fruit & some weird quiche thing. they serve meals the first 3 and last 3 hours of the 13 hour flight, so I knew we were close. I had stopped checking the flight monitor before breakfast. after they had collected the “breakfast rubbish,” the pilot gets on the overhead and tells us it’s foggy in Brisbane and we can’t land there as scheduled. we landed in Cairns (said like Cannes- film fest). what should have been a 45 minute stop turned into a 95 minute stop. we refueled & they “filled out paperwork” - after we finally got back in the air they gave us more muffins and juice. the flight from Cairns to Brisbane was about 1.2 hours. after collecting our luggage and going to customs, we got a really cool taxi van -haha- Erik, my dad, and I sat backwards, so it was like driving on the right side of the street (only backwards). it’s weird getting in on our driver’s side and being the passenger. they have cool round-abouts and tons of parks. like the parks connect the city with a huge bike path and such. the birds are really cool here & they make amazing sounds. hahah. they have a small population of turkeys that live here. after it rained yesterday afternoon, they decided to run around on the roof and fly off it into their trees. the weather is nice and cool (high 68 & low about 43) — alright time to make my bed and socialize

I am tired.. another 3 hour night… haha had a paper due today in Bio.. I swear that class… 3 tests in 3 weeks WTF?! and papers… arrgs

..so chemistry is awful and I fear I may fail this quarter… not only is it a major class, if I fail I will have to wait a whole year to retake it… this frightens me.

it is known that my unknown has been the cause of most of my stress this quarter. first the derivative didn’t work out. then I found out that the chemicals I selected as possible unknowns were wrong. I did my IR and H NMR today… I need to analyze my data. If I don’t figure it out I am screwed…

next week is going to be hell. if I don’t talk to you on Thursday, fear the worst.. for I may be dead.

Thursday will be awful… well most likely Wednesday night will be awful.

Thursday:
~Bio lab practical

~Music paper due…. on Black Hawk Down… hahahaha

~Chemistry paper due — which I will have to do on my unknown… and it will probably be about 10 pages

~me be a zombie all day… good thing I don’t work on Friday… <<wait.. I don’t think I have that schedule yet.. hopefully I don’t work Friday!>>
so yeah I have lots to do… but I’m not sure how to go about the chemistry stuff

15 problems for mass spectroscopy due in 2 days… no clue how to do them.. I should read.. pues .. good night!

school started today.. one class down (animal bio @ 8 am… -what did I get myself into?) & another to go… (o chem 2 @ 3:30) Friday is far away.. okay.. 2 days away.. but it shall be fun… supposedly dinner, Target & the movies with Daniel & others? - haha - by writing all of my current syllabi down, in my cool Hallmark datebook, I can definitely tell this quarter will be insane…

I just hope to survive another quarter of organic chemistry..

… to give up… school is awful. work is work. i am stuck in a rut and can’t seem to get out.. i feel “too tired, too obtuse”… i pretty much have the format playing in my head all day.. mainly this song & anything on interventions & lullabies. I opened the circa survive cd erik got my for my birfday (’on letting go’).. i pretty much love it like ‘juturna’
